Mercury retrograde dates in 2026

  • February 26–March 20 — Pisces.
  • June 29–July 23 — Cancer.
  • October 24–November 13 — Scorpio.

The October cycle is the one immediately ahead. Its pre-shadow began October 4, so people searching for the current cycle may see both “shadow” and “retrograde” dates. They are not the same thing: the retrograde itself begins October 24.

Venus retrograde in 2026

Venus stations retrograde on October 3, beginning in Scorpio and backing into Libra before turning direct just after midnight UTC on November 14. Because that moment is still November 13 in many American time zones, reputable calendars may show either November 13 or November 14.

What retrograde means astronomically

A planet in retrograde does not reverse its physical orbit. From Earth, changing orbital geometry makes the planet appear to slow, stop and move backward against the background sky before resuming direct motion. “Station retrograde” and “station direct” mark the apparent direction changes.

The dates are astronomical timing. Astrology adds symbolic meanings to those periods, but there is no established scientific evidence that apparent retrograde motion causes communication failures, breakups, money problems or other personal events.

How to use a retrograde calendar without over-reading it

  • Use exact dates to distinguish the retrograde itself from pre- and post-shadow periods.
  • Treat astrological themes as prompts for review rather than guaranteed events.
  • For a personal interpretation, check the houses and natal placements touched by the degrees involved instead of applying one prediction to every Sun sign.
  • Do not postpone necessary medical, legal, financial or safety decisions solely because a planet is retrograde.
