Why is birth time important?
The Ascendant changes through the zodiac over the course of a day and often changes sign in roughly two hours. Even smaller time errors can move its degree, so use the most reliable recorded time you have.
What if you do not know your time?
Do not treat an estimated Rising sign as exact. You can still explore placements that are less time-sensitive, but the Ascendant and houses require a reliable birth time.
